Since Russia began its military operations in Ukraine in February 2022, Western countries, including the US, have given Kiev a huge amount of military and financial help.
Russia and other countries have been told over and over again by the Kremlin not to keep sending weapons to Ukraine because it could make the situation worse.
Russia sent formal notes to every North Atlantic Defense Pact (NATO) country in April 2022 about sending weapons to Ukraine. Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, said that any cargo that went to Ukraine with weapons would be a valid target for Russia.
