NEWSLINE PAPER,- Turkey will continue to highlight Israel's unfair policy towards Palestine until Palestine can establish a sovereign state, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
"Turkey will continue to highlight the racist and unfair policies that Israel has used as a weapon against the Palestinian people. Turkey will defend the struggle of the Palestinian people until they have their own state, in their own country," the ministry said in a statement Sunday (May 12th).
Ankara is making tireless efforts to end the Israeli massacre in Gaza, and taking concrete steps to isolate Israel from the international community, the Turkish Ambassador added.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack on Israel and violated the border, attacking civilian areas and military bases. Almost 1,200 people in Israel were killed and about 240 others were abducted in the attack.
Israel launched a retaliatory attack, ordered a total blockade of Gaza, and launched an offensive on the Palestinian pocket area with the aim of eradicating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages.
More than 35,000 people have been killed so far in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, local authorities say. More than 100 hostages are believed to be still held by Hamas in Gaza.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reached a meeting point with a genocidal method he believed would envy Hitler.
"Netanyahu has reached a level that envyed Hitler with his methods of genocide. We are talking about Israel targeting ambulances, attacking food distribution points, and firing aid convoys," Erdogan told the Greek newspaper Kathimerini in an interview Sunday.
Erdogan wondered how he might be able to witness what Israel had done to the people of Gaza for months and considered Israel's actions to bomb hospitals justifiable.
Still compared to Hitler, Erdogan says Israel also kills children, oppresses civilians, and causes innocent people to starve, thirst, and lack of drugs in various forms of excuses.
